Without using Excel's financial functions where this is already programmed, how do I write a formula to say take a number to the fifth power. For instance, in solving for the present value of a number, the formula is: PV=FV(1+i)n, where n is the power of a number.

So how do I tell Excel to do (1+.05) to the fifth power without having to type: (1+.05)*(1+.05)*(1+.05)*(1+.05)*(1+.05)

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
Use ^, eg =(1+0.05)^5 (=1.276281563).

Sweet. Love simplicity. Worked perfectly.
