random number not duplicated

hi

i need to add the numbers 1-20 into 20 boxes, the formula is =Random() but i need to know how to have non duplicate numbers.

the numbers can be random in the boxes just not the same

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
You could have a separate area for generating the unique random numbers. Have a range of 20 cells with =RAND() , and from those generate unique numbers from 1-20 by using a ranking formula like this:

=RANK(A1,$A$1:$A$20)+COUNTIF($A$1:A1,A1)-1
... assuming the random numbers are in range A1:A20.

thanks glen it works and i have assigned a vlookup to pick up names located to each number
