What does this mean? I'm assuming Range("D1:D") refers to column D but what does the additional part do?

Excel Facts

Who is Mr Spreadsheet?
Author John Walkenbach was Mr Spreadsheet until his retirement in June 2019.
Range("D1:D") is not a complete range address, it does not have a row number for the end.
ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Rows.Count gives the range a row number of the last "UsedRange" Row on the active worksheet.
