Hi,

I gave a name to cell(2,2) in Excel (not in VBA).

But then when I do msgbox(cell(2.2).name) in VBA, I got "=Sheetname!$B$2"

How to get the name instead of the cell reference?

Thanks.

Excel Facts

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
It works!

How to use VBA to determine if a cell is named?

If I used your .name.name on a un-named cell I will get an object error too.

I want to put in a get-name-only-if-exist check.

Thanks.

How about...

Function getName(ByVal rg As Range) As String

On Error GoTo errorHandler
getName = rg.Name.Name

exitHere:
Exit Function

errorHandler:
getName = vbNullString
End Function
