Hi there,
I am trying to do a Supplier ranking with data obtained from an evaluation exercise. The data looks like this:
<TABLE style="WIDTH: 257pt; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=342><COLGROUP><COL style="WIDTH: 75pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 3657" width=100><COL style="WIDTH: 35pt; I want to add a rank column next to the last column to tell me which supplier (i.e. Supplier 2) ranked the best from all the suppliers per category. I have 21 suppliers in total.

Please help!
Thank you and regards,
Bennie

Excel Facts

Back into an answer in Excel
Use Data, What-If Analysis, Goal Seek to find the correct input cell value to reach a desired result
=index(Your_supplier_range,MATCH(LARGE(Evaluation_range),1),Evaluation_range,0))

Make your supplier range absolute cell references.
Evaluation range = the zero's you have above (in one row)
If you can supply the cell references I can write the formula clearer

"Make your supplier range absolute cell references."

Sorry, I am not a guru yet, please explain what I need to do? Does it mean I name each field, i.e. Supplier 1, Supplier 2, etc?
Where I have the zeros, a score will be entered in there out of the Category weighting, e.g. Commercial is 15, so Supplier can score for example 13 out of 15.

Hope this helps?

If supplier 1 is in cell C1 and Technical ability is in A3 then In cell F3 enter
=Index($C$1:$E$1,Match(large(C3:E3,1),C3:E3,0))
If you change supplier 1's technical ability to 15 it should output "Supplier 1" in the cell

What happens if 2 or more Suppliers score the same? Can you display more than one result e.g. "Supplier 1 & Supplier 3"

Regards

I can't figure this one out, perhaps a Guru could help. The problem with my formula above is that the MATCH function returns you the position of the cell so if there are more than one Max values it will always return the position of the first Max value. I can't figure out how to incorporate this into a formula - I'd be very interested to find out!
