I have a pivot table in Excel 2007 that is referencing an old workbook that is not within the file. How do I update the link so that it's referencing the data source within the table in the file? I tried the data source and select the table and for some reasons it didn't update the data source and still referencing an old workbook. Thanks in advance!!

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
The process you describe of using the Change Data Source button on the Ribbon and selecting your range is a correct way to change your data source.

If you selected a range that would be invalid for a Pivot Table source, (for example it is missing some headers), that would have kept you from changing to the selected range in your file. However, if that were the case you should have gotten an error message.

Perhaps you didn't click OK after selecting your range?
