USing Vista / Excel2007.

Every week from an external source I now receive a spreadsheet.

As I then have to do quite a lot of data manipulation I recorded a macro which I tested and it worked fine. I saved the workbook.

But when this week's new spreadsheet arrived and I went to have my new recorded maco manipulate the data, the macro I had previously recorded was nowhere to be found....

How can I save a macro so as always to have it available with "new" spreadsheets?

Thanks and regards,

Richard Oldcorn, Sydney

Have you tried recording the macro in your Personal Macro Workbook, maybe that is all you need.

When you start to record a macro, before the actual recording begins, you see the Record Macro dialog. There is a field named "Record macro in" with a drop down arrow. One of the drop down items is Personal Macro Workbook. Select that and see if it gets you what you want.

richard oldcorn,

When you click on "Developer", "Record Macro", in the box for "Store macro in:", click on the down arrow box, and pick "Personal Macro Workbook".

The macro will then be available to you to run on any workbook.

Click on "Developer", "Macros", pick "PERSONAL.XLSM", and click on the macro, and click on "Run".

You can also assign a key combination to the macro.

Have a great day,
Stan
