Using Excel 365 - This is the red arrow in question -
Excel Red Left Pointing Arrow.png

I just noticed a new red left pointing character in my spreadsheet. Not a typical arrow that I've seen before. I have some columns grouped and when they are expanded and collapsed, the arrow tracks with the same cell and column.

I'm trying to figure out how this arrow came to be in my spreadsheet. This spreadsheet is reused each period with new data populated. the formulas have not changed between a file without this red arrow and the next period where it showed up.

Does anyone know what this red arrow means, and if it can be resolved?

Let me know if you need additional information.

Thanks.

Hi & welcome to MrExcel.
On the Page Layout tab select Selection Pane. Does anything show up in it?

It sure looks like there's something. I know I didn't make a specific selection. Could this have been activated with a shortcut key in error?

How can I remove the arrow?

If you click on the Straight Arrow at the bottom of the bottom of the list & then hit the Delete key, it should get deleted.

Thank you so much! That got rid of the arrow.

Now I need to research this to find out how it happened and its purpose.

Really appreciate your quick response and resolution! 👍🏻👍🏻

You're welcome & thanks for the feedback.

If anyone copy/pastes data from another source, it could have come with that.
