The formula below reports !REF# in the results cell. How do I get rid of the !REF#. All of the cells have no data in them but in time will

=SUM('Aug 02'!BC25+'Sep 02'!BC25+'Oct 02'!BC25+'Nov 02'!BC25+'Dec 02'!BC25)

you get the ref! error when a cell reference is invalid. Chack you've got your sheet names right.

JJ,

Are you keeping a YTD total?

Brian, yes that is exactly what it is. It is the 13th sheet for YTD Stats. By the way anything more on the golf formula?

Thanks,
JJ

JJ,

What I do is to link Dec + Nov, Nov + Oct etc and on the summary sheet link to Dec.
Instead of Aug+Sep+Oct+Nov+Dec, the formula has no more than the present month and the previous one. Then it's easier, for me anyway, when sonmething goes wrong to correct.

Brian,
is this (Dec + Nov, Nov + Oct)a formula in a cell?

Given the formula in C35 doesn't return a #REF!, but C36 does, and they look as though they've just been copied straight down, have you had a look at the source cells. The problem may be in one of the other sheets. Just a thought.

JJ,

There is a cell in each worksheet that sums whatever you're summing in that worksheet. So I sum the sum of the previous month and the current month. I can send you a workbook and I'm sure you can follow it. It's a overtime workbook where it keeps a running total.

Brian,

Thanks for the offer and help. I must have had a "brain freeze" or something, both Paddy & RichardS hit it right on. I looked deeper and found source cells that were messed up.

Thanks Guys, JJ

Understanding data is crucial, and the easiest place to start is with Microsoft Excel.
