Hi,

How do I display Computer ID (Name) in a Cell

Regards Dave

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
Hi Dave

You can do it using an API call:

Code:
Private Declare Function GetComputerName Lib "kernel32" _
    Alias "GetComputerNameA" (ByVal lbbuffer As String, _
    nsize As Long) As Long

Function ComputerName() As String
Dim strBuffer As String * 255
Dim lStringLength As Long
lStringLength = Len(strBuffer)
GetComputerName strBuffer, lStringLength
If lStringLength > 0 Then
    ComputerName = Left$(strBuffer, lStringLength)
End If
End Function

Then you can use this in a cell:

Code:
=ComputerName()

Best regards

Richard
