Hey all first post....though this forum has been very useful for helping me with excel...
is it possible to use a variable name for linking files together...
so if i have a identification number in 1 row and i concatenate it with .xls could i have this concatenated text say for example b123.xls be used to link to the file without hard coding in the files actual name? or how could u tell excel to use that variable and then look up that specific workbook. sorry its confusing....
thanks in advance

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Welcome to the Board!

Or if the linked wb(s) will be closed you can use INDIRECT.EXT, which is part of the Morefunc add-in.

Hope that helps,

Smitty
