referencing a formula by its name in another cell

cell a1 contains the word sum

I would like to put in cell b1 the formula to sum c:c

I have tried the following and it does not work

=a1(c:c)

what should i be doing?
 

Excel Facts

When they said...

There is no native functionality in Excel to do this.

However, I believe the EVAL function in the morefunc add-in (see recommended add-ins and links) will do this.
