I need to know if there is a way to reference a specific cell on a row based on a matched text string in a column.

This is a photo of where the reference needs to come from.

So what i want in cell B2 (Fig.2) is what matches A2 (Fig.2) In column B in the first photo but I want to display whats in Column A (Fig.1) in the same row that a match is found. Is there a formula that can do this?

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
This is unclear as we don't know what your sheets are called. Perhaps something like

=VLOOKUP("A3",'Sheet2':A1:J12,5,FALSE)

The name of the first sheet is Test the second is Teacher.

Here is a picture of what should be displayed if the formula worked.

Some combination of index and match might be needed (since you are returning a value to the Left of the lookup column):

maybe:
=INDEX(Test!A1:A10,MATCH(A2,Test!B1:B10,0),1)

(where I've assumed 10 rows but your data is certainly more than 10)
