Hi,

I have an excel file that is opened up by two users simultaneously.
One in read/write mode and other in read only mode.

Is there a way for the read only mode user to automatically refresh the file for updates that are made by the other user? Currently, the only way that I know is of closing the file and re-opening the file to get the updates.

Excel Facts

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
I have the same question, no success in finding the fix yet,

Click the drop-down to Customise Quick Access Toolbar
Select More Commands
Select All Commands from the top left dropdown
Scroll to find the "Update File" function and Add to the right pane
while there you'd do well adding the "Toggle Read Only" function too - very handy to switch between read and read/write at the click of a button
Click OK and these will then appear at the top of your screen to be used on any files.
