Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
Just copy the complete list to a new sheet, select all the data, and use Excel's built-in "Remove Duplicates" functionality (found on the "Data" menu).
You can specify which columns to include when determining what is a duplicate.

Take a look at this other thread here, which shows you how you can identify the duplicates.
https://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel...rmatting-countifs-formula-duplicate-rows.html

If you sort your data, and apply the Conditional Formatting or COUNTIFS formulas, you can identify the duplicates.
Note if you do not want the first record to show up as the duplicate, you can cut the formula in half, as you only need to compare the current record to the one above it (and not the one below it).

i feel stupid
You shouldn't. It was a good question. It can be a little tricky sometimes when checking for duplicates and multiple fields are involved (especially when you are not just trying to eliminate the duplicates).
