Removing certain characters

Hello,

I am using Office 2003. I have a list of names with initials as shown below:

Reynolds M K
Smith P
Salvage K T J

As can be seen the number of initals varies, I would like to change it so the column only shows the surname with ONE initial.

Any help would be great, thankyou.

=LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)+1)
