Removing Data Items

Hello,

After dragging and dropping data items into the "Drop Data Items Here" section and saving, is there any way to remove a variable? I am using Excel 2002.

Sorry, that wasn't very clear, was it?. I am using a pivot table chart.

I have Excel 2003 & 2007 (didn't notice the version you were using until I realized that 2007 didn't have the same prompt), but I think the 2002 and 2003 versions are at least similar for pivot tables.
Here's how to remove a data items once it's been added in 2003...hopefully it works for you too:
In the pivot table chart, you probably have the field name of the data item just above the chart area. In my version, it's shown in a rectangle with a gray background. Highlight that field name, and drag it to the "pivot table fields list" panel. When I do it (XL2003) the cursor indicator changes to a red X indicating that the field will be deleted.

Thanks Cindy. Maybe it's a difference in 2002, but I can only drag out the entire box titled DATA, which removes all the data elements. Which is still better, because then I can just put back the ones I want. I can remove individual columns, or individual rows, but not the data elements.

I would like to attach a sample of the table I am using, but my posting rules say I am not allowed. Do you know how I can get permission to attach a file?

To the best of my knowledge, you can't attach a whole file, but you can post parts of a spreadsheet. See this thread for details: http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=508133

Hi again,
Here's a simple example (Thanks for the link for the attachment). I want to remove the "Total Hours" data. As I mentioned, I can click on the word Data and remove both # of Jobs and Total Hours, but can't figure out how to remove just Total Hours.
