Removing "links" between spreadsheets

I have several Excel spreadsheets that contain a number of links to each other. To be honest, they've all grown in size since I first started them to such an extent that they've become a bit of a nightmare and very difficult to manage.

To make things a bit easier, I'd like to remove the automatic links between the spreadsheets. However, even when I remove the links from the cells, when I load the sheet up it still informs me that "The workbook you opened contains automatic links to information in another workbook......". This is very confusing, especially for my colleagues who also use the sheets and I'd like to stop this from happening.

I actually posted about this a while ago and someone mentioned an Add-In that I could use to do this. Unfortunately I couldn't get the Add-In to work.

What I'm thinking of doing is copying and pasting pages from my spreadsheets into entirely new spreadsheets. Will this then remove the links that somehow still persist, or will the problem remain? If so, does anyone have any advice on this?

Thanks!

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).

Using XL2003 try the Edit menu - Links - choose the links - click " break link"
If you don't have these options you can find links doing a serach on "[" and delete the links you find.
Pasting the sheets won't help I think

Simply copying and pasting will not get rid of the links. If the sheet only contains values then you could copy/paste special > values, but I’m guessing that’s unlikely. Have you tried doing an Edit>Find and searching the whole document for exclamation marks (!)? These are usually found in link formulas and may help you identify some links you hadn’t previously found.

Removing the links by deleting the named ranges would be my first suggestion as well, but you can also copy and paste special and then select "Values and Number Formats"
