Replacing Links

I am replacing links inside a workbook for the new week and unless I open the source file, updating takes a long time.

I have tried
Activeworkbook.updatelinks = false and
Application.calculate= xlmanual

both with no luck.

Does anyone know a way to update links in an efficient manner without having to open the source files?

Thanks

Angus
