I do not think this is possible, but shall ask anyway.

I am attempting to change a column of Cells - Col A - based on the result within column B.

Column B will contain either 1 or 0 only.

Column A shall have random numbers.

I want Column A to be amended to 0 if Col B is 0, however I wish col A to retain it's existing value if Col B is 1.

I understand I could create an additional column etc and utilise that but am hoping to avoid this if the result can be achieved another way. Even possibly using a filter on column B to only look at the 0's then auto apply a formula to the visible cells in col A. However, I am unsure as to how to achieve this.

any guidance most appreciated.

Excel Facts

Copy a format multiple times
Select a formatted range. Double-click the Format Painter (left side of Home tab). You can paste formatting multiple times. Esc to stop
Highlight column B. Right click then copy. Highlight column A. Right click then paste special. Click the multiply radio button and press OK.
