Hello,

I am looking for a Macro that allows me to return a value that is in a column that is corresponds with a date - the date will be specified in a separate cell.

To explain further - I have a list of metrics listed in rows - monthly values are input in the columns to the right - named by month and year. Then, I have a cell (say it's B3) that has a drop down that allows you to select a date.

Another column is supposed to return the rates for a selected month. So for example, if it is February, and I want to look at January rates, I select January in a master cell at the top of the spreadsheet, and it updates the column to return the rates reported in February for each metric.

It is quite difficult to explain, but I would need the formula to say something like:
'Fill this cell with the value of the cell in this row that corresponds to the cell in row 3 that matches the cell B3'

Does anybody know what formula/combination of formulas would do this?

Many thanks,

Porcupine

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
