Return Name of a Range?

Good morning,

Excel 2007, WindowsXP.

Here's the scenario: B1:D5 is a named range, Travel. In cells A1:A5 I want to be able to have the name of the range next to it appear.

My endgame is a stack of dynamic named ranges with identical data. The only way I can tell them apart is from the name. I'll be throwing them into a pivot afterward.

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.

I don't know how show the range name in the cell unfortunately.

Do you just want to be able to see all the names of the ranges and where they are on your worksheet? If you change the Worksheet Zoom to anything less than 40% then the range names are all displayed in large letters on the sceen and you can quickly find the range you want.

I use it all the time - then zoom back to 100% when I find my range. I know it is not an answer to your particular problem, but it may help in telling each range apart.

Unfortunately, it doesn't help in this case. I need to be able to use the names in a pivot table.

How about this UDF to give you the named range where applicable:

I spoke too soon. It works fine on a single sheet. If there is a second worksheet with named ranges, it gives #VALUE.....
