Return the number of Characters in a string

Could anyone tell me is there a way to return the number of characters in a cell? I've searched on this site and other sites and can't find any similar searches.

Thanks.

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
