I have a formula to look up values within a cell

=IF( SUM(--ISNUMBER(SEARCH({"4S","3S"}, A2))),"4S","N")

It returns 4S if the cell contains 4S or 3S, is there are way I can have the formula return 4S if contains 4S, and 3s if contains 3S?

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Here is kind of a "round-a-bout" solution, but it works.

=IF( SUM(--ISNUMBER(SEARCH({"4S"}, A2))),"4S",IF(SUM(--ISNUMBER(SEARCH({"3S"}, A2))),"3S"))

I'm not sure what you are using the ISNUMBER and SEARCH formulas for, but you could simplify the formula even further:

=IF(A2="4S","4S",IF(A2="3S","3S",""))
