Returning a (real) blank cell from a formula

If I have a blank cell that I am referring to, excel likes to return 0. Returning an EMPTY cell is clear (for example =IF(ISBLANK(A1);"";A1)), but this cell still returns false when given as input in the ISBLANK function. So I was wondering if it is even possible to return a cell that passes the ISBLANK test from a formula?

Why wouldn't you just write it like this...

=IF(A1="","",A1)

Sadly, no.

Yeah that works too if I'd like just an empty cell. But the cell created still doesn't pass the ISBLANK test.

It can never pass such a test because it is not blank... it has a formula in it.
