Returning Matches Sequentially in a New Worksheet

Hi All,

Here's the setup:
I have a worksheet with 50 values in column A, occupying rows 2-51. Those 50 values only contain one of 5 different values (e.g., apples, oranges, bananas, etc). In column B, there's a manually entered text note for each of the 50 values.

My problem:
I want to, on a different worksheet, be able to look for all values of, say, apples in column A and return the text notes in column B, but sequentially in the order the match was found and on separate lines for each. So, the first match for apples would return the text note from column B in Row 1 of the new worksheet. The second match would return the text note in Row 2, so on and so forth.

Can this be done or is this a pipe dream in Excel?

Thanks in advance!

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.

Worked great, thanks! Do you know if there's a way to have it search for matches across multiple sheets?
Well, you could use the same formula technique to "search" each sheet separately and return the results to separate sections. Sort of like this:

Rows 1:10 = data from Sheet1
Rows 11:20 = data from Sheet2
Rows 21:30 = data from Sheet3
etc
etc

That's about all I can think of.

I was sort of resigned to that fate, but holding out hope that there's some other way still. Much appreciated!

You might be able to get someone to write you a macro that will do this.

Thanks for the feedback!

Good luck!
