Imagine A1:A6 have Dates, and B1:B6 have numbers.

I want to report the DATE (from A) that corresponds to the highest numbered row with a number in it from column B.

I want to do this with a formula, not with VBA. I can do it in VBA with no problem.

Anyone done anything like this?

( 1.) Activate Insert|Name|Define.
( 2.) Enter BigNum as name in the Names in Workbook box.
( 3.) Enter the following in the Refers to box:

9.99999999999999E+307

( 4.) Click OK.

Now use:

=INDEX(A1:A6,MATCH(BigNum,B1:B6))

Format the formula cell as date if needed.
