When I am using Excel and want to open a file, or do a Save As, Excel opens up the current directory that it is working with.

Is there an official term for this directory - is it in fact the "Current Directory" or is there a better term to describe it?

Also, how would you refer to it in a macro?

Thanks,

MikeG

I don't know any technical terms but when you said current directory I understood it right away.

To get the current directory you could use
Code:
ThisWorkbook.Path

It's called the current directory. ThisWorkbook.Path will return the path the workbook was loaded from; Application.DefaultFilePath will return your Home directory.

Do you want to know what the current drive and directory are after you do a ChDrive and/or ChDir though?
