running macros on multiple files

Is it possible to run a macro on mutliple files at the same time?

If so, how?

Yes. Say you had x workbooks open, then you could just iterate through them and do your stuff on each one. As a simple example the code below inserts the workbook and worksheet name into cell A1 of each worksheet in each workbook: -

Public Sub ChangeAllWorkbooks()
Dim wb As Workbook
Dim ws As Worksheet

For Each wb In Workbooks
    For Each ws In wb.Worksheets
        ws.Range("A1") = wb.Name & " " & ws.Name
    Next ws
Next wb

End Sub
