How do you save a macro so that it will appear in any started excel workspace?

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Save it to your Personal Macro Workbook.

The easiest way to get there is to record a new macro and on the screen where you enter its name, hit the drop-down list under "Store macro in:" and select "Personal Macro Workbook". Then click OK, then stop the macro.

Then when you go into the VB Editor, you should be able to see your Personal Macro Workbook and you can store your code there and it will be available to you whenever you have Excel open on that computer.

At what point are you getting that message?

If they are talking about the Personal Macro Workbook, you really don't need to unhide itm because you aren't editing the worksheet itself, but rather the VBA behind it.

Once you record a macro that you save to the Personal Macro Workbook, you should be able to see the Personal Macro Workbook from the Object Browser in the VB Editor.
