How can I get the save icon back on top of excel. I have the quick access ribbon on the bottom but some how the autosave/save icon dissappeared from the top of the sheet.

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
It seems you customized the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), and in that process you removed the Save command...
So try customizing the QAT once more to add that command; instruction are here: Customize the Quick Access Toolbar

Bye
