Hello Board,

I have a few templates that are stored on a shared drive at my company and they are used by multiple users. The users are suppose to save a copy to their desktop or computer, but they don't always do that. My question is...is there a way to permit users to "save as" to another location and restrict them from saving to the original template on the share drive? Is there some macro code for (this workbook) that would accomplish this? Thanks in advance.

Click the italics "fx" icon to the left of the formula bar to open the Functions Arguments dialog. Help is displayed for each argument.
Could you make the templates Read-only.

So that users are forced to change the filename when saving in the same directory or chose a different directory?

Or do you have access to change the folder permission of the containing folder so that they don't have write access?

Right click the Template and select properties and choose read-only from the attributes section.

You can also do a save-as prompt on the workbook_open which will help to "suggest" that they rename and save it. You could even do an inputbox where they enter their name and you set it to automatically save in a folder of your choosing as the inputbox response.
