Sheets("010504").Select
Sheets.Add

this is part of macro
the XL sheet is imported from Spoolview, (not sure if your familar)
so the sheet name will never be the same

is there a generic sheet name for this? i cant get "sheet1" to work

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
If the CodeName is consistant you can use that instead.

Sheet1.Select [compared to Sheets("Sheet1").Select]

(Look up CodeName in VBA help for more info.)

Or if the sheet position is consistant, you can use that:

Sheets(1).Select

If you open the sheet using VBA, and if the data always appears on the activesheet, you should be able to use this

Dim WS as Worksheet
workbook.open(Path & Filename)
set ws = ActiveSheet
ws.activate
