Hello all,

I realize there are other topics out there about this but I can't seem to find one that fits my need. That or I can't understand how it was applied etc...

I would like to be able to have a worksheet with 3 variables.
Variable 1: A message box that appears and asks to browse to a directory. (I want to be able to search the files in this directory for text contained in the files)
Variable 2: I would like a cell with data in it that excel will search for in the specified directory (as little as one word/number, as much as a sentence)
Variable 3: I would like the search results (the files that contain the keywords) displayed in the adjacent cells.

Lets say that Cell A2 contains the data that excel will be searching for. Cell B2 would be where excel returns it's initial results. If the term is found in more than one file, the results will continue downward into cell B3, B4 and so on. I apologize that I cannot post an example. I am at work and can't seem to get the html addin working.

If anyone has any suggestions or a link to another posting that I couldn't find, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Why can't spreadsheets drive cars? They crash too often!
why work so hard when all you have to do is use Windows (file) Explorer which offers the feature exactly as you want it?

In Excel, this would require extensive VBA work.
