I am still using Excel '97 Version.

I have a file for employees data, whereby I store data for each employee in separate worksheets.

Is it possible to search for an employees name from another sheet ? I have managed to find an add-ins, which works only in Excel 2000 onwards.

Awaiting for help from you guys !!

Thank you, in advance,

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Hi

Please expand on "Search" - what exactly do you want to do? What is the naming convention for each sheet (eg is it the employee name)?

Yes, all the worksheets are named with employees names itself.

Thanks,

And what do you actually want to do when you search the sheet? Is it always bringing back the value in cell B2 of the sheet with the name of the employee for example?

Sorry, I have omitted the first question.

Is it possible to search for an employees name from another worksheet, as we do it in the same sheet with Ctrl+F.

Hope it clarifies,

Ah I see. No, not directly. I take it you need this because you have a lot of sheets and navigating them is a pain? Something that might make things a little easier is if you right-click on the arrows to the left of the actual sheets. You should get a popup dialog that lets you scroll through the list of sheets until you come to the right one.

An alternative might be to use a front sheet containing a list of the sheets and hyperlinks to the sheets themselves - would be easier to navigate to the sheets then.
