Good day. I am using Excel in Office 365 (updated) running on Windows 10 Home. I have a worksheet that contains song titles and artist names. Column B holds the artist names. There is an Artist whose name begins with a question mark (? And The Mysterians). In another worksheet I have created Column A to house the first letter of each artist title found in the song worksheet (DB). IE: =LEFT(DB!$B29,1) This formula is used to extract the first letter of each artist from 4500 songs. Then I created Column B to count the number of cells that contain the letters A thru Z, numbers 1 thru 9, and special characters (" and ?). IE: =COUNTIF($A:$A,"A") The search for letters, numbers and the " all work. The search for ? (=COUNTIF($A:$A,"?") gives me a total of 4500 meaning that it counted everything. Is there a way to make the search work? I appreciate any help.
Thank you,
Dan Wilson...

Good day Fluff. You did it again! Thank you for responding. It took me a while to find that key (~), but it worked. I suspect that it will work for other special keys aa well (+,-,/,*). This one is now closed.
Thank you,
Dan Wilson...
