Set wbName = Nothing - Why ?

Why should I do this?

Dim wbName as workbook
Dim wsName as Worksheet
 
Do my code
 
Set wbName = Nothing
Set wsName = Nothing

It clears the references from memory.

The old reason was to prevent memory leaks (take out the garbage). I am not sure that it happens that much anymore with those objects.

Arn't the references cleared when the procedure is finished? Is this mostly used for very large procedures or when memory is at a premium?
