Hi
Please tell me if this would be possible.

I want to create a workbook and each staff needs to add data to the workbook. Each Staff memember will have their own worksheet. I don't want them to be able to alter or add to any of the other workssheets , just the one they been assigned to.

Would it be possible to share the workbook on the Network and the staff can access their WORKSHEET ?

How would I go about it , thanks

Vaughan

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
you cant do this as when one person is in the file another will only be able to access this file in read-only status.

we have a similar issue where I work as we have an excel database used by multiple people

the way we get around it is to have the code save a local copy of the file on their machine and use macros to write data they input to a seperate file (they will still get locked file issues but at least it will only be now and again when staff happen to be submitting changes at the same time). You could do it this way or you could allow them to enter this data on their local version and have them submit it at the end of the day and contatonate the files.

Use some code to autosave the file in case of issues.

You can share files on a network, you just need to make sure that you have the "share workbook" option selected.

There are some issues with sharing workbooks, such as that you can't restrict users to a particular sheet on the work book on a per-user basis. You also can't modify or edit the workbook structure without disabling the sharing, and not all features can be used in a shared workbook.

Depending on what was needed, you could have separate files for each user and one main file that references back to each user's specific sheet, but that has challenges of it's own.
