Hi I was researching this site earlier while searchng for a solution to my problem. I have uploaded and excel spread sheet to the sharepoint that we have at work. I would like my users to be able to download that document from the sharepoint, edit it print it or save it to their computer, The trouble is i dont want them to be able to use the "save feature" as then then the changes would save their changes to the sharepoint. Early today I found a code her that that somewhat disabled the save feature as I wanted. Here it the trouble. I download the document to excel from she sharepoint, edit it and click save. And it saved even with the new code in place! So I clicked save again, and there was the message that i was looking for that read (you can not save this document pleace choose the save as feature) Great so I tried it again by closing the document and then downloading the excel sheet from the sharepoint once again, I made a change and darn it saved! hit save one more time, and I get the message (you can not save this document pleace choose the save as feature) . How can this be, numberous tries gave me the same resutls.

Please help if you can

Thanks
Joan

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.

You can control who canedit the file from SharePoint's permissions. You don't need any code that I am aware of.
