Good morning all

I am little confused even where to start so ideas to point me would be ideal. I have a shift rota produced (4 teams x2 on each team) day and nights, the rota is separated on separate monthly sheets. Now what I need to try work out on monthly basis when guys are off the shift is covered so there initials are put in on the shift let's say 01/01/2020 days JW covered day shift . I need to figure out or start so a script can scan the cells (specific) if there is text present like there would be for 01/01/2020 saying ,jw, to then insert in new sheet with JW (new column) date , but also to say day shift or night shift? Is this even possible . but as we have 16 engineers must also check and populate accordingly ? Think I am over thinking this. If help can upload a version to try explain what mean?

Thanks in advance on any direction

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
The idea is to check against what payroll have put in when is sent out but think can work that out.and if point in right direction will start something was thinking of if else but couldn't even think how to determine the day or night shift yet
