On a worksheet in cell D3 I have entered a date in the format DD/MM/YYYY
What I want to acheive is place a formula in E3 to show Mmm YYYY derived from D3 value

Anyone able to advise on the formula

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
Are you planning on doing any calculations on the NEW date in E3? If So, just put
=D3 in the cell, and format the cell with a custom format of "mmm yyyy"
That way, the actual date stays the same and can be used in calculations.

If no calculation is needed on the cell E3, you can use this

=TEXT(D3,"mmm yyyy")

Hope this helps..
