can i show a number in brackets though in actual it is not without brackets.

for example: can i show 3456 in a cell a1 as (3456). though actually it is 3456 and can be used as number for all the other uses like formulas additions etc

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
If the numbers are whole numbers, right click the cell>>Format>>NUmber>>Custom>>(#####)
if the decimal place is required..(#####.##)
Personally though....I would leave the numbers as they should be !

Right-click A1 and choose Format cells. Under Number tab choose Custom, then in Type enter "(0)" without the quote marks. Put whatever number format you want between the brackets.
