Hi,

I have a set of biological measurements that I am trying to organize. I would like to show both the summarized data and the individual data points within the same table. Is this possible with a PivotTable?

Here is the data in summarized form only:

The data consists of three replicate experiment values for each sample. Some of my samples only have one or two measurements instead of three, so I've shown the number of replicates per sample that contribute to the summarized data.

I'm able to expand the summarized results into their individual values by including the "Experiment" variable under the "Columns Labels" section of the PivotTable Builder.

However, this expands all of the summarized results when I'd only like to expand the values that contribute directly to the average. Is there a way that I can do this easily through the PivotTable instead of reformatting it manually? I've done it manually here to give you a better idea of what I mean:

Thank you for taking the time to read this through,

Joel

Hi,
So you want only the independent values for ep1, ep3 and ep4 to be shown alongside the # of replicates, average and StdDev?
Excel 2011 right?

How is your Column 'average' arranged?
where do Epx come from? (1,3,4...)
