Simple Bar Chart ?

Hello,

I've used Excel quite a bit, but I never tried to create a bar chart before.

I have the following data on the spreadsheet that I'd like to chart :

Drivers Policies
1 driver 48,000
2 drivers 15,000
3 drivers 5,000
4 drivers 1,000
5 drivers 7,500
6 drivers 9,200

1- I can't get the scale on the Y axis to go from 0 to 50,000.
When I put 50,000 for the maximum, then select 'number' for
the category, the scale goes from 0 to 500.

2- The bars on the X axis do not show up at all

Can anyone help out? I guess I'm not as smart as I thought I was...

with your data in a1:b7, I have no issues creating a chart by simply selecting the data & following the chart wizard.

take us through exactly what you're doing...

Well, now if I right click on the Y axis, and click on 'Format Axis', I clicked all of the check boxes underneath 'Auto'.

Then I go to the 'Number' tab, and select 'Number', zero decimal places.
(the default was 'percentage').

Then I click 'OK' and the Y axis has:

1
1
1
0
0
0
0
0


and the vertical bars go all the way to the top of the chart.

Maybe I'm doing something out of order...

OK. I found the problem. In the chart wizard, I selected '100% stacked column' instead of 'stacked column'.

I do have one other question, though:

How can I display the actual value represented by the bar ? Say, for example, bar #1 represents the number 42,656 and I want to see that number displayed on the chart. Can it be displayed on the bar itself ?
