Simple Date Formatting

I received a data file where the date were formatted as "20120202", I would prefer these dates to be listed as "2012/02/02". However, when attempting to customize the respective dates through both the date and custom formatting options, it has failed to work. Thanks for your time!

Do you hate GETPIVOTDATA?
Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off

what format are the dates? dmy or mdy? anyway chose text to columns skip through till you get the option of date and choose dmy or mdy whichever you have click finish.
