Simple dups problem

Hello all,

I have column A:10 to A:5000. All cells have numbers in them A:10 = 0001, A:11 = 0002, etc...

I would like to scan all these cells just once to find all dumps and correct them. This would be a one time thing to correct past errors.

I tried using conditional formatting but it didn't show any difference, and I know for a fact that there is 1 dup in there somewhere, I just can't find it.

Should I use VBA code instead? if so, how?

Thanks

Try this in conditional formatting...

=COUNTIF($A$10:$A$5000,A10) > 1

put in this formula

=countif($a$10:a10,A10)

copy that down, then you can do a filter for values over 1, or just do a find values of 2 if you know there is for sure only one dup.

Thanks to all that replied so fast.

While I was looking for help, I kinda stumbled on the answer and figured it out, so thank you!
