This formula worked fine, and then one day when I changed one of the values (H3), I get the #name? error, and undo won't correct it; see for yourself; any help would be appreciated.

Hi - welcome to the board!

None of the cells in your sheet are showing the #NAME error??

That is, until, you change the value in H3 (Beats Per Bar); when I do this, the entire Bar:Beat column shows the #name? error, and the undo button won't get it back; try it!

Very weird - as soon as I change the value of H3 to, say 5, the entire Bar:Beat column displays the #name? error; and the undo button won't restore the cells to their previous, correct value.

The result has happened on two computers, both running Win98 SR-1 and Excel 97 SR-1.

So when you do it, the Bar:Beat column changes occordingly? Very strange. Any advice?

Ya, wish I could - are we using different version of Excel and/or Windows? Have you ever heard of this being an issue?

NO - I'm confused! Ordinarily I'd say check out the help file - it's got a list of possible causes for the #name? error - work through your formula & eliminate them. But your formula works??

=IF((MOD(A4,$H$3)+1)<10,(QUOTIENT(A4,$H$3)+$H$4 & ":0" & MOD(A4,$H$3)+1),(QUOTIENT(A4,$H$3)+$H$4 & ":" & MOD(A4,$H$3)+1))

Might it be this - quotient is part of the analysis tool pack - have you both got it installed? (tools | ad-ins...). Loading the page, then changing h3 without the tool pack installed gives me a #value! error in the bar:beat column.

I _JUST_ came back to write you that I vaguely remembered installing that!

(Why wouldn't QUOTIENT, so basic, not be included by default when so many esoteric functions are???)

The series of event leading to this problem:

1. Assembled Computer with 2 HDs (1system 1data)
2. Installed all programs I knew I'd use on sys drive.
3. Made backup of system drive
4. Made FreqTime.xls on data drive; had to install analysis tool-pak (on system drive)
5. system drive crashes; restored with backup
6. Problem with FreqTime.xls starts (since the backup didn't have the tool-pak installed)

Thanks for your help!

Lost me a bit - is this fixed? Do you currently have the analysis tool pack installed?
