Gentlemen,

I'm trying to create a simple function in Power Query to insert data into SQL. Since I want to keep it simple, at first, I am testing it by invoking it manually. I have a test table FORD_MarketHistoryTEST that has a single varchar column named TKR. I am using an account that has insert privileges for that table.

Here is the function that I wrote.

Code:
let
  InsertFunction = (tkr as text) =>
			Sql.Database(
			"SQLSERVER",
			"MYDB",
			[Query="INSERT INTO FORD_MarketHistoryTEST VALUES("&tkr&")"])
in
    InsertFunction

When I click "Invoke" and the menu pops up to put in my parameter, I insert a fake ticker (ex. TST) but I receive an error that TST is an invalid column name.

I am confused as I am passing my parameter not the column name. I cannot seem to figure out if this is just a syntax error in my query statement or if it is the way I wrote the function to use the parameter in the query statement.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
