What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Hello
This is an extract from Excel Help which seems to give you the answer you need.

Show only visible worksheet data in a chart
You may want to hide and display details in an outline with subtotals, or filter data by specific criteria by using one of the Filter commands on the Data menu. When you hide, display, and filter data on a worksheet, the corresponding chart shows only the visible rows and columns.

Click the chart.

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Chart tab.

Select the Plot visible cells only check box.
Notes

To show all worksheet data in the chart, even if some rows or columns are hidden, clear the Plot visible cells only check box.

This procedure does not apply to PivotChart reports

Instead of hiding the columns, try setting their widths to something really small. e.g. set the column width to 0.05, anything less than this will be basically the same thing as hiding the column and will make the data invisible to the graph again.

another option available

place chart on another worksheet and Show Data Table from Chart Options then hide the data worksheet - awkward if continuosly updating the data but it has its uses
