Hey guys

I'm calling data from other sheets.

I autofilled the address and got this:

'[Final.XLS]07.01.04'! (And then the cell number)

Where does the 07.01.04 come from? It is not a folder name.

Also, I was wondering if I can use a cell on the sheet to call up data in the other cells.

Cell A1 contains the filename.

I've tried '[A1]'! with no success. I'm a n00b. What do I do?

Excel Facts

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
07.01.04 in this case appears to be the sheet name.

As for the second question you would need the function =INDIRECT.EXT(). I can't recall offhand what Add-In it's part of but if you do a search on this site for it you'll be able to find it and how to use is.

I'm not real sure what your looking for but here are a few ways to get data from another sheet.

Data is here:
Book3
ABCD
11-Jan10
22-Jan20
33-Jan30
44-Jan40
5
Sheet1

and is pulled to this sheet.
Book2
ABCD
11-Jan10[Book3]Sheet1!$B$1
2
33-Jan30[Book3]Sheet1!$B$3
4
Sheet1

That any help?

I want to use cell A1 as the source for filename.

I know I need to use the INDIRECT command, but I have no idea how to implement it.

=SUMIF('[=INDIRECT("&C11&".xls)]job costings'!$D15:G732,"1.1",'[=INDIRECT("&C11&".xls)]job costings'!$F15:F1564)

is the code I am using at the moment.

Note that instead of A1 I'm referencing to c11
